Common Questions
How long does treatment take?
Invisalign® uses a series of custom-made clear aligners to gently move your teeth into alignment. You’ll switch to a new set every 1–2 weeks as your smile gradually transforms.
Does it hurt?
You may feel slight pressure or tenderness when switching to a new set of aligners, this is normal and a sign they’re working. Most patients find Invisalign® much more comfortable than braces.
How do I clean my aligners?
Rinse them with lukewarm water and brush gently using a soft toothbrush. Avoid hot water, which can warp the material.
Will it affect my speech?
Most patients adjust within a few days. Any slight lisp usually disappears as you get used to wearing the aligners.
Can anyone get it?
Invisalign® is great for adults and teens who want a discreet alternative to braces. Your dentist will determine if it’s right for you after an exam.

Dr. Vishnu Shankar
Dr. Vishnu Shankar is a caring, experienced dental professional who believes in being a careful listener & getting to know each patient as an individual so he can provide the best personalized dental care possible. Dr. Shankar earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry with an award for outstanding performance in oral surgery in 1991. He is dedicated to staying at the forefront of modern dentistry, & he has taken numerous continuing education courses, including those in surgical & prosthetic (implant) dentistry, OSHA safety, full-arch implant restorations, CEREC® same-day crowns & CAD-CAM dentistry. He is also certified to provide Invisalign® clear braces.
Outside the office, Dr. Shankar has a love of nature. He enjoys hiking, fishing, biking, gardening, coaching soccer & giving back to his community. As a faculty member of the University of the Pacific, he conducted an outreach program with dental students to perform dentistry in Fiji. He has also provided dental screenings to seniors in the community.
